What to Expect Before Surgery
Before your procedure, our team works closely with your surgeon and anesthesiologist to plan the safest approach for monitoring your nervous system. You may be asked to follow specific preparation steps, such as washing your hair and avoiding certain lotions or products that could affect electrode placement. All monitoring electrodes are applied after you are asleep or sedated, so you will not feel or be aware of them during the procedure.
Our goal is to make the process simple, safe, and stress-free. Every monitoring setup is tailored to the type of surgery you are having, ensuring the right balance of precision and protection for your care.
During and After Surgery
Once surgery begins, your neurological function is continuously monitored in real time. Our specialized technologists and physicians observe signals from your brain, spinal cord, and nerves, allowing the surgical team to make informed decisions throughout the procedure. This extra layer of safety helps reduce the risk of nerve damage and supports better recovery outcomes.
After the surgery, all electrodes are gently removed, and your surgical team will continue post-operative care as planned. Most patients have little to no awareness that monitoring even took place — but the benefits last long after the operation.
